The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1 to 1 relationships that can change their lives for the better, forever. Our vision is that all children achieve success in life. We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in the program to achieve higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, avoidance of risky behaviors and educational success. This is accomplished by providing a trusting, caring relationship with an adult volunteer. Volunteers are carefully selected, trained, and matched with children between the ages of 7 and 17. Volunteers, through both our community or school-based programs, are requested to make a one year commitment and to spend at least 1-2 hours a week with their Little Brother or Sister. In addition to helping foster mentoring relationships for children throughout the region, Big Brothers Big Sisters also presents anti-bullying programs at our area schools.
